Vapor Vision

Vapor Vision is a graphic design project I created to show my creative process, concept ideas, and design skills. This self-made project was completed in about a two days, including the designing of this webpage.

My Process

I first started this project by conceptualizing what I wanted to design and for whom. I created a mood board that includes ideas like visual aesthetic inspiration, words to help convey what I want the project to bring to the surface, and an overall company concept. The concept I decided to go with was a fashion sunglasses company with the target demographic being young millennials. The brand would focus on being nostalgic and feature bold and bright colors, along with a retro feel. I took inspiration from vaporwave photos and considered colors from retro posters.

The next step in my design process was creating a name for the brand and a logo. As I was creating my mood board, I had already been brainstorming brand name ideas. I settled on Vapor Vision, taken from the vaporwave vibe, and got to work. To stay in line with the retro theme, I went for a “glitched” look. I also took bright colors from my mood board and looked into bold fonts. After experimenting, I settled on a logo design that featured a Bebas Neue font, a geometric concept, and colors I felt suited the brand.

After settling on the brand name and logo, I moved onto branding ideas. I started by creating posters that featured some elements I enjoyed from photos I selected on my mood board. I really enjoyed this part of the process, because a lot of designs I’ve worked on in the past have been calm and simple. It was fun to use a bold color scheme and add elements that may not work well with other designs.

Getting Down to Business

Continuing on, I decided to make business cards, letterheads, and other branding elements. I stuck with the concept I had decided on and continued staying true to the Vapor Vision brand.

After finishing the different branding aspects of Vapor Vision, I went ahead and added the design to a mockup. After all, if the brand is selling sunglasses, customers should be able to view the sunglass designs.

Finally I created some web banners to advertise Vapor Vision and all of its products. I again featured a bright and bold color scheme. Although this has project’s design elements have grown, these banners show that it still has a simple and straightforward aspect to it. Overall, I am excited with this fabricated project and look forward to designing for Vapor Vision in the future.
